Although it is a general view to play soft tennis in a part of Japan
and Asia, it is playing in fact not only in Asia but in the whole world. In
recent years, the spread activities of soft tennis are positively performed
especially in Europe, and it is being established mainly in case of East
Europe. The "Asia tennis-played-with-a-soft-rubber-ball league" was
established by three nations of Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan in 1955. The Asia championship by three-nation
confrontation was held by the Asia tennis-played-with-a-soft-rubber-ball league
in 1956 to 1973. Spread activities were started towards the United States of
America in 1972. The international tennis-played-with-a-soft-rubber-ball league
was established in 1975. The member nations at the time of foundation were
Japan, South Korea, the Republic of China, Taiwan, the United States,
Venezuela, Brazil, and Hong Kong. The first world championship was held in the
American Hawaii state in the same year. The spread activities to Europe and
African continents (rope etc.) start late in the 1970s. The spread activities
to Europe will be the 21st century, and will begin to show a result at last. The
Europe soft tennis league is also established and many tournaments are also
held centering on East Europe.

The world championship held by quadrennial for the 13th world soft
tennis championship counted 14 times in 2011. The 13th world championship held
in South Korea and Anjo in September, 2007 also had the participation from a
country and the area which amounts to 42 nations. Spread in Asian nations other
than South Korea and Taiwan is also progressing at an increasing tempo, and the
new Asia championship is held in Nagoya in 1988. The formal game of the Asian
Games (ASIAN GAMES) which can be called Olympic Games of an Asian area from
1994 was held. The East Asian Game (EAST ASIAN GAMES) which can be called from
1997 Olympic Games of the East Asia area was accepted to be a formal game. The
international junior soft tennis convention (INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR SOFT
TENNISTOURNAMENT) which is International Convention according to age for a
youth started in 2009. The first convention was held in Yokkaichi in December. The
convention serves as a holding schedule in every two years. In 2011, soft
tennis was adopted as the Southeast Asia game convention which is the Olympic
